The mayor of Watertown has taken the National Wildlife Federation's Mayors' Monarch Pledge, which commits to taking action to help save the monarch butterfly, an iconic species whose eastern populations have declined by 90% in recent years.

WCG is partnering with the City of Watertown to create habitat for the monarch butterfly,  and to educate residents about how they can make a difference at home and in their community.

The State of Massachusetts' has awarded Watertown a grant to implement priority actions to build resilience through the Municipal Vulnerability Program (MVP) Action Grant program.

WCG is proudly working with the City of Watertown on the Community Greening Program, which seeks to address the outsize risks posed by climate change to vulnerable populations by targeting green infrastructure investments in our most at-risk neighborhoods.

The Massachusetts Master Gardener Association is an independent non-profit organization whose mission is to share research-based horticultural knowledge and experience with the public.

Save Watertown Wildlife is a group of Watertown residents committed to helping wildlife. Our current focus is on reducing the use of rat poisons that harm pets, raptors and other wildlife, and even humans.

Mystic Charles Pollinator Pathways is a larger group with a similar mission, spanning several municipalities surrounding the Mystic and Charles Rivers.

They have created a Google Map of pollinator habitat, both public and private, which anyone can add to.  The map highlights the pathways that are created by nearby gardens, supporting more pollinators which cannot travel long distances for food.

Edible Watertown is a long-term interdisciplinary project by Watertown Public Arts & Culture Committee that promotes awareness of our local environment through community engagement and the artistic and scientific exploration of plants local to Watertown.

Edible Watertown aims to uplift the importance of local flora and their ecosystems to connect people with the environment right outside their door. The community connections created by this local movement, in response to the global issue of climate change, encourages us all to be better stewards of the environment and increases recognition of the known natural gifts in our community.

Trees for Watertown's mission is to care for our community and environment, by

• promoting the planting and preservation of shade trees
• serving as an educational resource as to the beauty, value, and requirements of trees
• collaborating with city departments, local, regional and national organizations and the public to support a healthy urban forest in Watertown, Massachusetts.
